As the leaves start turning it’s time to look back on another fun-filled year of Orleans Little League baseball and our many on-field successes.
While the spring instructional season got off to a rain-soaked start that delayed on-field action for a good week, the summer season ended in August with no shortage of accolades and achievements.
By the time the last out was called, Orleans Red Sox summer squads took home a total of four interlock league titles, finishing as finalists in four more and earning four regular season first place finishes.
On top of this, our Junior Canadian squad won the District 6 tournament in June while our Seniors hosted Provincials, going all the way to the final before bowing out to Ottawa West at Heritage Park.
Meanwhile, our Minor All Stars made it to their District final before losing to South Ottawa in July. But a few weeks later, the boys returned the favour, gaining sweet revenge in taking down the Blues in their interlock playoff final to bring home some well-deserved hardware.
As perhaps a harbinger of future triumphs to come, our Minor Canadians joined their All Star buddies in winning their interlock final while our three Coach Pitch teams combined for two first place finishes and a playoff title.
From the promise showed by our Coach Pitch players to the proud curtain call made by our Seniors, it’s been another season filled with exciting action, tough losses, well-earned wins and priceless lessons learned all backed and made possible by the hard work of our players, parents, umpires, volunteer convenors, coaches and managers.
Thank you to everyone who made so many memories for our kids and we’ll see you come registration in January and, most importantly, when we once again hear the two sweetest words yelled out by umpires in May: “Play ball!”
