What will be taught:
OLLB Level One / Instruction to Coaching will ensure that all new coaches have a basic understanding of the game, ensure that the focus is on fun for players, they will work to improve players’ ability, understand the rules, how to set up a team, how to position players, understand baseball basics (hit, run, throw, field, catch), know what is required of coaches on and off the field, of the players, their parents, and how to run practices and games. Coaches will be informed on the OLLB values regarding respect for players, coaches, and umpires.
Who:
Coaches may self-select for participation or convenors at the T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Minor and Major levels will provide a list of new coaches at each level who require certification. Over time, all coaches will have coaching Level One certification. Also eligible are new coaches at older age groups who may follow the Level One course as well. Convenors at those levels will identify new coaches.
Format / duration:
2 hours / indoors
First hour – will be spent on teaching coaches what is required of players to properly hit, run, throw, field, and catch. Please bring a baseball glove, running shoes, and comfortable clothing.
Second hour – will instruct coaches how to manage a coaching staff and team, plan practices and games, preparing a line-up, understand the rules that are applicable to each level.
Respect for all – within the second hour, coaches will participate in a mandatory discussion on respect for players, coaches, umpires, and parents. Following this session, coaches will attest that they will implement the Respect provisions of the training.

Returning coaches:
OLLB returning coaches are also eligible to receive Level One coaching certificates as well.
Certification:
New coaches who successfully follow the Level One course will receive an OLLB certificate provided by/signed by the OLLB President, OLLB Vice-President Baseball Operations, and the OLLB instructor.
Next levels of coaching:
OLLB will develop a Level Two Coaching certificate targeted at new and experienced coaches who require a better understanding of baseball strategy. This coaching certificate is targeted at summer competitive coaches at all levels and for all new coaches in the Major level and above.
OLLB will develop a coaching program both within OLLB and from Baseball Canada so that coaches can receive appropriate certification to coach older age groups in the spring instructional season and for all summer competitive seasons (all levels).
Revalidation/refresher:
OLLB can assist in providing a revalidation should it be desired/required.

The Umpire clinic for new umpires and 2nd year umpires has been set for Sunday April 28th at RJ Kennedy Hall / Cumberland arena on Dunning Road.
Registration starts at 8:30 AM with the clinic running from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Lunch will be provided.
Attendees are to bring pad and paper, comfortable indoor clothes with running shoes as well as outdoor clothes in the event that the weather is nice enough to use the diamond for demonstration purposes.

Circus Delight will be operating from 9:30 am til 4:30 pm
Canteen will be open from 8:30 am for coffee and treats
At 10:30 am we will start serving hotdogs til close at 5:30 pm
Please bring small bills or change for canteen purchases.
Team photo times listed below. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your photo time. We ask that all parents please complete the photo form prior to arriving and have payment ready. Please note that for some reason, some Desjardins debit/ credit cards do not always work with their payment machine.
We, also, ask parents to please keep children who are not on the team away from the photo area and remain behind the barriers to allow our photographers to get the best photos and stay on time. Thank you for your cooperation.

All teams are invited to participate in the Scott Hit, Run and Throw competition immediately after their photos. As a team please report to the first base dug out for instructions. Players from coach pitch and up are required to registered for the event. Please do so at the link below:

Players are required to use the bats supplied. Please leave your own bats home, along with your batting helmets and balls. T-ball and Coach pitch players please do not bring your glove either as it is not required.
Top players in each skill and overall in each level coach pitch to major will advance to the sectional. Information to follow-date to mark May 25th.
